Optimal rainfall threshold for monsoon rice production in India varies across space and time

Nonlinear response of crop yield to rainfall
Publication
Communications Earth & Environment

Editor’s Summary: Excessive rainfalls have led to a greater decrease in monsoon-season rice yield in India than deficit rainfalls, suggests a statistical analysis of historical rice production and climate data from 1990 to 2017.

Food Production & Climate Change: This study identifies the optimal threshold for the nonlinear response of monsoon rice yield to rainfall over space and time.
