Rural hollowing and land attachment

This study aims to understand the emergence of hollow villages with the abandonment of cropland and homestead using a spatially explicit agent-based model. The process of rural hollowing can be explained by social-ecological feedback between land use and labor migration. Policy supporting return-migration is key to preventing rural hollowing and promoting rural revitalization.
